Darrell Chaisson - Composer
Darrell has been composing music from a very early age. It always seemed easier to just sit down and play something rather than trying to figure out what all of the notes meant on the pages.
After many years of fighting with piano lessons the whole I'll do it myself attitude prevailed. The first piano was a 100 year old upright wreck that was in the basement of the family home.It would have been an embarassment as an anchor. It was so bad that the hammers didn't strike the right strings when you played them. Play an f and you get an f# maybe a G. Maybe that has something to do with the way the music has evolved.
The first real keyboard was a Howard organ followed by countless, electric pianos organs and synths. Today most of the tunes are written on a grand piano Korg and Yamaha Synths.
Using the tecnology in these instruments helps create the ideas for the music. Then the rough electronic tracks are taken apart and then real instruments are used in place or a combination of real strings / horns and the synth sounds.
The music continues to evolve and has been described as Contemporary Jazz , Adult Contemporary.
Darrell's first CD was released in 2004 and continues to receive airplay today. A second CD is in the works and will be released in 2012.
